Power Cycle and Combustion
Explore our pilot-scale infrastructure for combustion and power cycle research. These systems are available to external researchers for testing new fuels, simulating small-scale power plants, and evaluating advanced thermal systems like supercritical CO₂.

1.5 MW Boiler/Furnace
- Integrated with coal hopper and compressed air system.
- Can simulate small-scale power plants using coal or biomass.

Supercritical CO2 Skid
- Replaces steam with supercritical CO₂ to simulate turbine operation.
- Currently simulating turbine function using a heat exchanger.
- Successfully operated at pilot scale testing.
This top-of-the-line inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer can measure elements in a sample in quantities as low as 0.1 parts per trillion.

Solid Fuel Milling Facilities
- Capable of processing coal and biomass for combustion.
