Nuclear Materials Synthesis

Open to collaborators, our facility supports safe, nuclear materials synthesis using advanced equipment tailored for molten salts, isotopes, and electrochemical testing.

Two Argon inert gas gloveboxes

Glove Boxes for Materials Handling

  • Argon-filled for safe nuclear material handling.
  • Four glove boxes, each 12 ft long and 4 ft deep, with double-sided access.
This top-of-the-line inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer can measure elements in a sample in quantities as low as 0.1 parts per trillion.
A potentiostat is an electronic instrument that controls and measures voltage and current

Potentiostats

  • Used for purification, analysis, post-processing (e.g., isotope extraction).
  • Help control the electrical environment during material synthesis and characterization.
  • We have six units for electrochemical testing of molten salts.
